Vacation

I'm gonna be in Virginia this week. I have vacation now. I'm leaving on Monday and not coming back till either Thursday or Friday. Not sure which. I'm telling ya now cuz I'm not sure if I'll have time to come tomorrow with Easter and packing and stuff.

Orca

Just a random orca. I havn't drawn whales for quite a while. Didn't take me very long, less than an hour while I was on the phone. I was listening!

Blackhawk

Here ya go Blackhawk! It's you! You helped me break a barrier: drawing felines! My next barrier: canines! The problem with them is their paws, fur and basic body shape. The dragon head on the back, ignore it. It's a "reject" picture on the other side. I started to draw it, but it was coming out bad and I didn't feel like reasing all of it so I just flipped it over. My other recent pics have those only for some reason, they didn't show up on those. Not sure why it did on this one.

Bronze Dragonrider

Here's a bronze dragonrider! Yup, from the Pern series! The rider came out ok I think. I never made a full body person successfully before. YAY! It could still use some work but it's getting there.

Two-headed Dragon

A two-headed dragon. There's lots of stuff that are iffy, like the heads, the hands, the chest, and the wings. But overall I think it came out ok.

Dragonhorse Rearing

A dragonhorse rearing. It was hard to do but I somehow pulled it off. The claws are a bit iffy but I'm still working on those.

Dragonhorse Heads

Just a couple of dragonhorse heads done in geometry class on different days. Nothing special bout them really.

Muscle Dragon

A dragon with lots o muscle! Not sure if it's just tight skin or if it is really a muscle view. Depends on how you see it. I never did this before. It looks nothing like it did when I started. It was supposed to be a doodle, but I took a chance and wala! The anatomy of the muscles is not accurate, especailly in the tail, but oh well. The wings are not perfect either.

Swiftriver

This is Swiftriver. This is a fanart. Why? I'll explain. I like Yu-gi-oh! Especilly the jap version. Well, in the last season, it takes place in Egypt and the main char. is Pharoah there. In the sereis, he just has a normal horse. Well, I spiced it up. With this guy. Swiftriver! He is very stubborn, but smart and loyal. He's a brown horse that never takes off his tack and doesn't let anyone but the Pharoah ride him. Ya. The reason? They bonded as soon as Swiftriver was born. They became inseperable. I know, stupid. But oh well.

Tunnel Snake

The tunnel snake that lives on Pern. Weird looking huh? Why legs, not sure. Ask Anne McCaffrey. There's a picture of one in The Dragonlover's Guide to Pern. It really fills you in on the series.

Blackfire Head Shot

Until I color the full body this will give you an idea of what his head looks like. You can't really tell with the other one cuz it's looking right ar you, so ya. That's all.

Ruth 2

All the way down at the bottem of my blog is the original. I just took my pic and changed it on Powerpoint, since I don't have Photoshop. I had this for quite some time, but I forgot about it. To me, it looks like a mural or something remembering Ruth.

Makla

Here's Makla! Sorry it took so long. And sorry bout the eye. It made you look mad. I was just having bad luck with the eye. But overall, I think it came out ok. Tell me what you think.

Blackfire Lineart

The dragon responsible for the release of The Shadow. When it comes to appearence, he is a tad bit unusual. He has green scales, but has a yellow face with small spots. The spikes on the sides of his head are actually large hairs. Each spike is one hair. He has a triple stiff mane that is a yellowy color. He was born with those torn wings. Aiolos, even with those wings I'd think he would beat you. He beats me, and I'm pretty fast. He is also taller than dragonhorses, which are between 18-19 ft tall (that includes the head, not just up to the shoulder.)

I'm debating whether to just shade him or color him. What do you think?

Dragon Thing

Yup, I was bored. It is a bit random in a way I guess. Ya, it's on a math paper I did.

Head Portrait

Head shot of me. I know what you're thinking Aiolos. "You're not happy!" It's just the way it came out. And yes, I do have scales. Stupid scanner once again took out the quality.

Taking Flight

A dragon taking flight. This was an experiment in a couple of ways. 1. The wings. 2. The shading. 3. As usual, the angle. This is actually one that I am proud of. I like this one. I'm also getting better at doing rocks. Once again, the scanner took some quality away so the original is much better. Stupid scanner!

Wyvern Fight

Two wyverns fighting! Who will win? I have no idea. The bottom one came out funky at the legs. Cuz I never tried that angle before. The top one came out nice I think. The fuzziness is due to my stupid scanner. It's been like that lately. This was originally gonna be put up as a sketch like the Ramoth Sketch, but I decided to finish it instead. Oh, something I never said, some of the dark spots IS my fault. I'm left handed. When you're left handed your hand slides and smudges over the paper. So part of my hand is gray right now. So ya, that part is my fault. I can't help it.

When good art goes bad...really bad

Complete randomness and complete boredom. I had this for a while but never put it up. Well, now it's up. Ya...I know. If ya look, you can see a pegasus there. That was what it was supposed to be, but didn't feel like finishing it. All those different designs like the pigs and apples, ya, all of that came with my paint program. I actually found more but this was done before I found em. Another reason I just decided to scribble was because it wasn't coming out. This was also done before I got the drawing tablet I think, so it was done with a mouse.

Eragon and Saphira

Eragon and Saphira! Well, not so much Eragon but he's in there. This was done as part of a B-day gift for a friend of mine. She LOVES Eragon. I know Eragon is a little whack but I was having trouble with him. Making small images and still maintaining detail is a big bug I'm working out still. Have been for years. Well, here ya go!

Hipp

Hipp the hippogriff. Very sassy( I could use another word but I don't want to) but very compassionate. She's very wise and gives great advice. She's so attractive she attracts more than other hippogriffs. Ya...I know. I'm not "attracted" to her like most males. For one thing I already have a mate, and she's a member of my Herd so I got used to it. Same with the older males. It's the younger males that are attracted. She does have a mate...your not gonna believe me but it's Nestor. Yup, the dragonhorse. Don't ask. They grew up together. Hey, if griffins and horses can love each other, why not dragonhorses and hippogriffs? Sure, now Nestor's twice her size but they don't care. She also has a sister, Sara.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day everybody! Just had the urge to draw a Valentine dragon. I have another one. The only reason I didn't put it on is because it hurts the eyes. If you really want to see it, I'll put it up.

Aiolos

Here's Aiolos! Sorry some of the quality is lost. That was because of my scanner. I was using my sketch pad and the paper doesn't fit. Some of the details I admit did not come out as nicely as I had hoped. I won't feel offended if you don't like it. Overall I think it's ok, but it's your portrait so if you don't like it, like I said, I won't be offended. If you want me to fix anything, let me know. I'd be happy to do another one.

Impression

Either the boy is too small or teh dragonet is too big depending on how you see it, but overall I like this pic. The hands are still whack, but I'm still learning. I know it looks like he's choking the poor thing but it's supposed to be him crying with joy. It could be any color dragon you think, except for gold for obvious reasons.

Ramoth Sketch

Just a sketch of how I picture Ramoth, the Queen Pern dragon. I was lazy and didn't feel like shading. I never tried this angle and overall I think it's ok. The way I pictured the eye ridges was that they made it look like she was wearing a "crown." Hope that made sense.

Winged Dragon

This was how I originally pictured Aiolos. I didn't have a picture of you when I did this draft as a reference. I thought for some reason you had feathers on parts of your body. I've been working on other drafts of you. I do a couple of drafts before I do the real picture to see how I want to do it. This was the first, and even though it's wrong it came out pretty good.

Oopsie

I know I haven't posted lately. I've been busy and I keep forgetting to bring white paper, ike for Aiolos's portrait. I was gonna put two pics on here today, but my scanner took a nap. They're both on lined paper. *shields self* I know, I know. I wish they weren't either, but they were supposed to be doodles. Doodles...that...came out to be...not...doodles. I guess. So, hopefully tomorrow my scanner will wake up and let me scan em.

Phantom of the Opera Dragonhorse Style

In case you don't know, (which I'm sure you don't) I love The Phantom of the Opera. I first read the book in French, which wasn't really hard. Then I saw the new movie. The one with Gerard Butler. I had the urge to draw something. So I did this. It's a dragonhorse cuz 1. I like to draw them 2. They're black 3. I wanted the flying hair. I know I could have done that with any dragon, but the dragonhorse fits perfectly.
This is atually my second one. I was working on the first one when the system shut down for some strange reason. I forgot to save it so it was gone. Now I'm glad though because this came out sooo much better. Personally, I like the top one better. The bottom one I wanted to see what it would look like with a multicolored background.
I was going to put a hippogriff head in the top corner as Christine Daee but I didn't. Don't ask why a hippogriff. It's too long a story.

Oromis

Lookie! I can do people now! YAAAAAAY!!!! I couldn't do people to save my life. My secret? A drawing book called "Drawing and Painting Fantasy Figures" by Finlay Cowan. This is actually my second humanoid picture. The first is a demon thing I drew last night, but I'm not sure if I want to put it on. I will if you want. Anyway, this is Oromis from "Eldest." Yup, Glaydr's(is that how you spell it?) Rider. This is roughly how I picture him. I tried to get his expression to show age and kindness as well as sternness and wisdom. I might do a better portrait when I get better at drawing people. Tell me ANYTHING that you see wrong! I don't care what it is! It could be the way I did the scarf, the way I did the face, or even the way I shaded. I don't care what detail(large or minute) is wrong, just tell me so I can improve.

Goldendragon in Eagle Form

TaDa! It's Goldendragon in her eagle form. Sorry it took so long. I had fun doing it when I finally made the final copy. I was never able to successfully draw an eagle before. There are still some things that could be done better, like the claws. They did not come out the way I hoped. Goldendragon, if you see anything wrong that you want me to fix, let me know. The gold spots on your wings came out pretty nice I think, but if you want anything changed let me know. I'll see what I can do. Sorry if it's not perfect.

Wednesday, January 11, 2006

Warning...well, sort of.

Just so everyone knows, I really got into drawing dragonhorses again. They used to be the only thing I drew, then it almost became a "forgotten art." They're fun to draw. So, just expect dragonhorse pictures to show up every now and then. I'll try not to overdo it.

Dragonhorse Carving and Silhouette

I figured out how to add different textures to my comp. pictures. The top one is the finished version. The one below technically is the scrap. I made the the dragonhorse in black, saved it, and filled it in. But (the wording might be tricky so I'll try to make it clear) the finished one was saved as a different file so the outline was also saved. This way, if I messed up and couldn't fix it, I still had the outline. When I was done, I felt that I had to do something with the outline. So I made it look like a silhouette. I had this sort of idea for quite a while, but never got around to it.
Goldendragon, I know you're probably wondering why I haven't put yours up yet. I have a copy of it done, but it's on lined paper, and I didn't want that. I promise yours will be up soon!

Nestor

This is what happens when you invite a young dragonhorse to a party. They take over. This one, Nestor, loves to party. He's an adult now, but that does not mean one thing. Even as an adult he acts as if he's a college student. When he was able to fit inside buildings, he crashed parties. Young dragonhorses, in adolescence, are about the size of a horse. Oh yeah, he loves wearing sunglasses too. So do not give him any whatsoever!
This is the worst I have ever done. They're isn't even any shading. I was listening to "I like to move it" by reel to reel. I just had to draw something like this. Crappy, huh? The background sucks too.

Baby Dragon

Awwww! Isn't it cute? I love it's little feet! The back feet I admit did not come out as nice, but I thought it was cute. it only took me bout a 1/2 hour to do. Like the Trojan Horse pic, it' a lot smaller than what the scanner made it. it's maybe bout 2 or so inches tall.

Nanag Wong

This is a friend of mine, Nanag Wong. She just started up a blog the other day and wanted me to do a profile picture for her. She doesn't have a color scanner, I think she said. I tried, but it was a real pain in the butt to get mine up, but it's not letting me make a decent looking picture in the right size. Oh well. I'll just have to tell her.

Ancestor Swiftwing

All three of these pictures are of the same dragon. His name is Ancestor Swiftwing. He is known as Ancestor because of his age and wisdom. He is the oldest and one of the most respected dragons in the world. I'm the second oldest in the world. Dragons have longer life expectancy than many think. He founded my Herd. Also, he has foresight and often speaks in riddles. However, just because he founded the Herd, doesn't mean he lives with us. No one knows where he currently lives. Some say that he wonders around, exploring the world. He shows up every now and then to see how things are doing. His visits often have a significant purpose. No, we are not related. We just happen to have similar colors. His scales are more violet and lustrous than mine. My scales are more of a plain purple.
I just got the urge to draw him and I guess I got overboard and did more. I'm gonna try on paper, but I wanted color. I never tried scales like this before on a comp. The first two look closely the same, but the third one...I got this thing called "Graphire" if anyone's heard of it. It's a tablet thing you hook onto the comp. It has a wireless mouse and a pen. The pen is more mousish than penish. You hold it like a pen, but when you put the tip to the tablet, it shows up on the screen. Cool huh? Yeah, cool, but tough. It'll take getting used to. The third pic was my very first shot at it. Not the greatest. So that's why he looks totally different in that one. Oh, and the middle one, took me two days to do. I didn't have the patience in one sitting, and I know the small scales are whack but it was one of my first trys trying it.

Saturday, December 24, 2005

What's That?

What does she see? A dragon? A griffin? A phoenix? Friend or foe? We'll never know. (hey! That rhymed!) Maybe it's just a plane. I never tried this angle before. It came out pretty nice, except for the back legs and the way the head is turning. Once again, I had fun with the multicolors.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY! AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Random Fire Dragon

More lined paper. ugh! Oh well. But hey, I figured out how to do scales! They were my enemy and whenever I did them, they looked nothing like scales. Sure the ones on the threstral are ok, but now I can do them on the entire body. And I'm getting better at that thumb claw thing. heehee. Sure, some of the minor details are kinda whack, like the feet (as usual) and some other things. I never did large scales on the arms and legs before so that was cool. And the wings came out nice too.

Dragonhorse Body View

Tada! Here's the full body view of the dragonhorse. Crappy, but good enough to show until I get a better one. I used the computer because I don't have the best color pencils in the world, so I used this. They are actually practically pitch black, but if I tried to show THAT, you wouldn't be able to see it. So, I made it a couple shades lighter so it was visible. The feet are very crappy, but look Makla! Thumb claws on the inside! Heehee. Yes, I know I only showed one wing but I was really lazy. Same for the poor excuse of a backround. I got the pose to try to show their cocky and comical nature. Not the best, but hey, gets the point across I hope.

Dragonhorse

I know, you're probably saying, "Lined paer again?" Well, that's because I haven't drawn these for over a year and wanted to get into again. It improved quite a bit, but still is not perfect. As you might have guessed, it's part horse, part dragon. At quick glance my friends say "nice horse" or "nice dragon" and I say "Thanks, but it's not exactly a horse(dragon)" To tell you the truth, it looks almost nothing like a horse except for maybe the head and mane. When I get a whole body picture worth showing, I'll get it here. Basically, they have a horse'like head with ears somewhat in front of their horns. They have horse manes(duh) Their necks are more built and horsish as are their legs. However the legs are built enough to hold their weight. They do have wings and claws. Their height is the most dragonish thing of all. They range from 16-18 feet in height. The height of a European dragon. And they are all black. One thing you obviously can't see is the noise they make. They make both dragon and horse noises and can speack english(that's their most often used language) Some are even gifted with speaking other human languages. They can run and rear like a horse and breath fire like a dragon.
Oh, something I forgot to mention, they are very rarely this docile looking. They are wild in personality and sometimes don't always have the nicest language. They also have an awesome sense of humor and are good at pranks. But they are the most loyal friends you can have and will stick by your side till the very end. They'll even sacrifice their life for a friend.

Female Threstral

This is one of my views of threstrals. Once again, this is my view and not the official view. Just when I was reading Hp 5, the way they descibed them made me think of them like this. The reason it says "female" is because I picture males a bit differently. I was going to draw the male and put both of them up here at the same time, but I never got around to it. This is not one of my best, so I'll see if I can make a better one.

Firered, the red dragon

This is a fanart, I guess. I made up a character a while ago. Yup, you guessed it, another Pern dragon. You'll never see the end of them. So make long story short, he's a rebel. That's why he named himself without the traditional -th ending. He became a rebal as soon as he saw everyone back away from him because he was red, also for the fact that his eyes were not faceted. No one knew why. (FYI, he's from the same clutch as Ruth) He didn't Impress and refused to be Impressed. He wanted to be free, so F'lar and Lessa released him into the wild, but had dragonriders keep an eye on him for a while, without being seen. I can go on forever about him, but that's all I'll say for now. (yes, I know, I make whacky stories.)

Winged Chinese

Pencil arts are coming, don't worry! This was an experiment. My paintbrush on my paint program lets me darken or lighten any color by coloring over it. That's how I got the hair effect. It came out pretty nice.

Brown Canth & Green Morath

I know, I know. I promised that I'd get more pencil art here, AND I WILL! I just got bored so I did these. These are two dragons from Anne McCaffrey's "Dragonriders of Pern" series. The first one is brown Canth, F'nor's dragon. Yes, that's F'nor on his back. I'm slowly working my way in drawing people. The red backround is supposed to be the Red Star. It was the best I could get it. This is just how I picture him. The books say that he has neck ridges, I just don't picture him that way. I'm not saying that this is how it SHOULD be, just how I see him, that's all. I know he's not the greatest I'v ever done, especially at the chest, but oh well. And I know the body coloring went a little whack but I can't fix it. At least he's brown. And the little green one is green Morath, Debera's dragon. She's from "Dragonseye" ("Red Star Rising" in the UK I found out) I haven't read the whole thing yet, but so far she's a dragonet (baby dragon for those that don't read the series). She's waiting for Debera to feed her. I had fun with the backround. Yes, I know the rocks on the wall suck, but I couldn't find a good way to do them. So that'll have to do. I even had her laying down on her stone couch in the weyling barracks. I even gave both dragons whirling eyes. Well, I tried to anyway. I tried to get the right colors for the right mood.

Apology

I am sorry that I haven't really got a lot of pencil arts on here lately. I just got so excited when I figured out how to get computer art on here. MORE PENCIL ART WILL BE HERE!!! I promise!!

Cloud Unicorn

This is the best computer art I have EVER done! I even surprised myself with the finishing look! Those multi-colored backrounds I have, I just figured out that I can change their colors! So, I fiddled with them, and tada! This is my favorite one yet!
